MicroChips & More

Did you know there is an easy, cost-effective and permanent way to insure your lost or stolen pet is recovered, even if he isn't wearing his ID tags?  Shellie Lowetz of MicroChips & More in Tehachapi can help protect your valuable pets, livestock and tack with permanent ID from Avid MicroChip.

Why should I microchip my pet?

Millions of dogs, cats and other animals across the USA now carry the Avid MicroChip.  Developed by a veterinarian, the Avid MicroChip is safe, permanent, and only takes a few seconds to administer.  The tiny injectible chip (about the size of a grain of rice) contains a one-of-a-kind ID number, and is recognized worldwide.  A special scanner is used to read the microchip through the animal's skin.  With a phone call, the registered chip can be traced back to the pet's owner.

How long does it take to microchip?

Since the microchip is injected under the pet's skin, it only takes a few seconds to complete the procedure.  The paperwork associated with registering the microchip with Avid takes about 5 minutes.

Who can read the MicroChip?

Most state and federal agencies have a multi-scanner, as do many veterinarians, rescues and shelters.  This includes animal control, FBI, state border officers, and livestock auction yards.

How much does a microchip cost?

If you have the microchip injected at Canine Creek during one of our monthly shot and nail trimming clinics, and complete the registration paperwork at that time, the cost is only $45 per pet, including the cost of registration with Avid.  If you have multiple pets, nervous animals, or large livestock, home/ranch calls are available at an extra charge.
