4th Annual
Birthday Bash Fundraiser (Apr 5th)
On
Saturday, April 5th, Canine Creek will celebrate it's 4th year in business
with a fundraiser to benefit
Doberman SOS, where 100%
of that day's self serve bathing
proceeds, and funds collected from raffle drawings, will be donated to
this local non-profit rescue.
Last year's event raised $2,000 with only
4 bathing stations. With SIX tubs at the new store, our goal is to
increase our donation by 50% this year. Local rescues and
pet-related vendors will be on hand in our parking lot for the
festivities, including the
Tehachapi Humane Society, Save
Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets (STOP), A-Pet Animal Rescue and
Canine Canyon
Ranch.
Our monthly shot and nail
trimming clinic will run during the event, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
Janice will be donating 100% of nail trimming fees to STOP (Save
Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets).

All raffle ticket sale proceeds benefit the Doberman SOS rescue, so
please be generous and buy a lot of them!
Dog Adoptions
Galore! (March 15th & 16th, 2008)
Canine Creek is thrilled to announce that
SEVEN dogs/puppies were adopted to new families at our weekend adoption
event for STOP, Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets. Awesome!
More volunteers are needed for the next adoption day, so we can continue
with this very positive trend. If you'd like to donate a couple
hours of your time at the next event, please call Leslie at Canine
Canyon Ranch Rescue -- her number is 661-823-0111.
A Successful
Relocation (March 1, 2008)
Thank you to all who came to our
re-opening day at the new store on Saturday, March 1st. It was a
bit chaotic, and the tubs were not yet in operation but, overall, it was
a very successful day. We are especially pleased to report that
two dogs from the STOP (Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets) rescue
organization were adopted that day. Congratulations to the pooches
and their new forever families.
Canine Creek
Has a Home... Finally! (Jan 2008)
After several
months of negotiations
with three landlords, we finally found the perfect home.
We signed a lease, and will be preparing to relocate Canine Creek within
the next 6 weeks. As of Saturday, March 1,
2008, our new address will be:
538 E. Tehachapi Blvd., Tehachapi CA 93561

Our New
Building
Canine Creek's new
building is located at the corner of Tehachapi Blvd. and Snyder Ave.
across from the old Junior High School, two blocks East of the Apple Shed,
and just south of the railroad tracks. In fact, we're so close to
the tracks, you'll be able to sit on our front porch and watch the trains
go by. The fastest way to our new store is to take Valley Blvd /
Highway 202 east from Tucker Road and turn left on Snyder Avenue, just
before you reach the High School.
Why We Love This New
Location
Our new free-standing building is recently remodeled inside and out with tan stucco
and rock face accents. At just over 2,900 square feet, it is nearly
double the size of our present shop. And, the feature we are most
excited about... a large fenced-in back area that will be perfect for
training classes, private parties, socializing with friends, and hanging
out with your dog!
Important Information -
Making the Move
We will be CLOSED at 979 Valley from
Wednesday 2/27 thru Friday 2/29 to pack and move merchandise to the new
store. Please stock up on
food and supplies, and get bathing done by February 25th. The tubs will be removed from the current
location on Sunday 2/25 at the close of business, so bathing will not be
available the week of February 25th.
Due to a VERY tight construction schedule, the self serve tubs may not be
ready by the March 1st re-opening, but we are doing our best to avoid
additional down time. Watch
the website for updates.
Kudos to Our Contractor
We are thrilled to have selected
a wonderful, and extremely professional, general contractor to build the
new Canine Creek store. Mike Watson, General Manager of
Watson
Brothers, has been very helpful and FAST in setting up a construction
schedule to meet our March 1st deadline. We signed a lease on
January 16th, and his crew started demolition only 7 days later with
complete, professional, engineer-designed drawings and City approval.
If you know anything about the building process, that's amazing! If
anyone needs a contractor for a home or commercial project, I wouldn't
hesitate to recommend Mike and his company. Visit their website at

Owner of Canine Creek
Joins STOP Board (Jan 08)
Susie Atherton, Owner of Canine Creek, joined eight other concerned
Tehachapi residents in mid January 2008 to form STOP,
also known as
Save Tehachapi's
Orphaned Pets. The goals of this newly formed 501(c)3
non-profit is to rescue abandoned and homeless pets, and work toward
building a much-needed animal shelter in Tehachapi. Susie's position
as a founding board member is Publicity Chair for STOP.
City Council Resolves Mitigation Fee Issue (Jan

The Tehachapi City Council has

2008 relocation plans, as detailed in the Tehachapi News Story on
